One Piece Chapter 825 Review: Family Affair

Germa 66 Appears

Pfff, finally free after spending two nights working on an application...  

One Piece Chapter 825 came out earlier than usual thanks to last week's Golden Week in Japan. Anyway, anyhow, let me offer some quick thoughts on this relatively short chapter:

I. Tales of Sora

The chapter kicks off with Monster Gun Vito having a celebrity crush crisis with Sanji. He recounts a recent comics strip in the newspaper (world economic times) that tells the tales of Sora, a hero loosely based on a hero  fighting against the dark side of the force, Germa 66. Nothing interesting apart from the fact that the hero looks like Sengoku The Buddha. His seagull pet resting right above his head looks very similar to that of the former Fleet Admiral. Perhaps this is Sengoku telling his old glorious tales since Garp was busy chasing after the pirates.

One thing this comic strip suggests is that the armies of justice, the Marines, fight against this mysterious evil army of Germa 66. Perhaps "fight" is the wrong word; I would rather say "dislike". One of my theories is that the World Government deals with Germa 66. The group executes the WG's even darker assassination orders in the New World. That is, if CP9 had the license to kill on the first half of grand line, the WG made use of Germa 66 to kill some influential folks. Moreover, Germa 66 had to have a pull within the WG to alter Sanji's bounty to Alive Only.

Of course this doesn't have to mean the marines like them or that they work as colleagues. It is no secret that Aokiji, Admiral Fujitora, Smoker, [Zephir] and Saul The Giant disliked them. Even Sengoku came to resign after the incident of the war of the summit. Last but not least, even Akainu, the mad dog, spits in the face of the Gorosei...sometimes.

II. Family Affairs

Lola's twin sister?

This chapter should've been called family affair. First, we see a new character who almost looks like Lola. You could be forgiven if you thought it was her, but Lola is missing a front tooth. Lola's wendy ponies are also longer than this lady's.

Since Big Mom is rumored to have many children, I think this character is most likely Lola's twin sister. This could confirm our long held belief that Lola is indeed one of Big Mom's kids.

Germa 66 Appears

At last Germa 66 appears!

Someone who also looks super similar to Sanji makes his apparition.  Again, the devil is in the details. The direction of his right eyebrow curl is opposed to Sanji's, an inverted symmetry. So the question becomes: Is this guy Sanji's twin brother or older brother?

He doesn't seem old enough to be his dad. This was certainly the best part of the short chapter!

So you now get the reason why I named this chapter "Family Affair"?
