One Piece Chapter 824 Review: Little Pirate Games

Son of a criminal

Wave after wave, each new chapter brings with it epic-tsunamy-like revelations. That's why we love One Piece. Chapter 824 showed us the tip of the iceberg known as the Yonko's power. Lot of things happened and were hinted, so let's get started with the review:

I. Baltigo Chronicles & Luffy Sees Dragon for the first time

Son of a criminal

First things first and as I mentioned in my last post, Dragon and and the top commanders of the Revolutionary Army are most likely fine. Pedro assumed the same.

Furthermore, for the first time in his life, Luffy sees what his dad looks like. This should make things easier for the fated day they meet. What did Brook meant by his comment regarding Dragon's presence? Have they met before? or is he simply referring to Dragon's status as the numero uno public enemy? Brook knows more about the world than he lets past his cup of tea.

II. Luffy Vs. BlackBeard: A Fated Future (Final) Battle

Once again, it seems the threads of destiny are sewing a fated encounter between the Straw Hats and the Black Beard Pirates. Perhaps that might be one of the last arcs if not the last arc of the manga.

To answer Nami question as to why Blackbeard confronted the RA, it was because of the weapons located on Baltigo. Kaido hoards Zoan type devil power users; Teach hoards weapons and powerful devil fruit powers. Makes me wonder what Big Mom and Shanks collect.

III. The Rise of Cipher Pol

What stroked me most is the fact that Cipher Pol clashed with a Yonko. I always knew that Rob Lucci was a beast, but to this point of clashing head on with a Yonko? As Dragon stated, the organization must have gone through a substantial overhaul.

With the marines led by Akainu and Cipher Pol led by Rob Lucci, the world government seems to have two powerful organizations under its fingers.

IV. Jack is possibly a Fishman

Oh boy, trouble it is. Jack seems to be still alive and....stuck. Due to his Devil Fruit Power, he can't swim. However, perhaps due to him being a Fishman, he is still able to breathe underwater. I think he might be a descendant or a hybrid fishman just like Dellinger since he didn't seem to have webbed hands. His monster teeth reminds me of Hody Jones' and Arlong's.

Kidd was defeated
V. Eustass Kid is in trouble

I was never a fan of Eustass Kidd due to his cruel tendencies, but seeing him in this sorry state imply several past and future things:
  1. Past: When Kaido crashed his party, Kidd must have refused to join his umbrella. This caused Kaido to kick his behind like there is no tomorrow. This trait to never surrender (300?) reminds me of Luffy and Ace. And this is probably how he lost his left arm during the timeskip.
  2. Present: Apoo and Hawkins might have joined Kaido. Since Hawkins base his actions on probability, he must have seen that joining forces with Kaido had the highest odd of survival. He is still a mystery though, so I might be wrong regarding him. But Apoo definitely jumped ships.
  3. Future: Now, I see a high probability that Kidd, saved by Law and Luffy, shall join forces with them to defeat Kaido.
The question remains what happened to Killer and the Kidd Pirates?

VI. Charlotte Purin
Last but not least, we finally can put a familiar face to the unknown bride to be. Purin is the three eyed girl who appeared next to Big Mom back in chapter 651. Sanji is done for. As Zorro suspected, it will be a shore to bring him back.

As for the Luffy's team starving, I got that right in my last chapter review :)
